I received lessons for a few years from legendary recording/session bassist Chuck Rainey (Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones,etc.)as well as formal instruction at the university/college level. I have played with several bands. I am an excellent drummer/percussionist. I have been playing for seven years. I have frist chair in every band I have played in. I am sixteen and have played for mostly school bands. I have also played foe Colorado State University. I have co-founded the Pep Band at my high school. I am currently first-chair percussionist in the school band, lead snare in the Pep Band, and lead drummer in the Jazz Band. I occasionally play for the school choir and various private and public events within the school. I have experience in every type of setting from small, intimate crowds to large crowds at Boetcher Concert Hall. I take music as a serious art. I play all types of music. I am very open-minded and willing to experiment. I know my own skill and work rigorously every day to improve. I use every method: books, CDs, videos/DVDs, clinics, etc. I even help the younger students in the school so that the value of the music in the school never lowers. I am known for my style of rock-jazz very similar to that of Buddy Rich's.
I am interested in starting a small jazzz combo. I would eventually like to start a big band. These band will have regular gigs at various events. 75% of the proceeds will go to charity. We will keep enogh money to keep the band going. I have an amazing piano player lined up. I am mostly looking for brass, rhythm section, and vocals. Seperately I would like to start a small rock band for fun and small gigs. |
