About me: The Washington Balalaika Society is an all-volunteer community orchestra, the largest orchestra of Russian folk instruments in the United States. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings in Arlington. Our next concerts are on June 14 and 15 in Bethesda, MD and at the Capital One Hall, Tysons, VA. In preparation, we want to expand 2 sections: We need one additional, experienced accordion or bayan player. We want to add one upright bass player who would like to play a Kontrabass balalaika. Wanted: pianist/keyboard player to hire for stipend for some sessions to accompany me on classic songs I want to work on. Pop, Rock, Jazz, broadway, and some of my own pieces.

Me?
I'm a singer, composer, actor, writer, director, hoping to find new musical connections with like minded souls who want to create and form a band. I'm a very young 66 years old, a couple of years out from day-job retirement (also in tech arts) and getting a jump on creating my next life adventures of recording studio fun and live performances. Let's try it out, play, sing, jam, discover how/if we can work together and develop exciting new projects.

I've got a big bass/baritone voice and sing everything from Big Band: Sinatra, Buble & Cincotti, to Rock: Jethro Tull, Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Carol King, Linda Ronstadt, Janis Joplin, (some women's power songs just work in my voice) my own music, and hopefully some of your music too. What do you do? I've been singing all my life but am relatively new to composing and putting out music - some of which can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, etc, with videos on YouTube. -Studied music theory under instruction of a professional jazz guitarist for one year.

-Able to improvise and adapt to rhythmic and modal changes in live and jam settings.
-Conceptual knowledge of polyrhythms; comfortable in 2:3 and 6:4 as well as 4:3. Comfortable with odd time signatures.
-Experience with live sound mixing and PA systems. Approx 3 years.
-Experience recording, mixing and mastering songs, demos, and other musical productions both as a performer and producer. Approx 3 years.
-Looking for more opportunities to record and produce artists/bands.
-Looking to compose music/songs with others.
-Looking to share and teach music theory to any individual eager to learn.
-Looking for opportunities to play in or be part of bands.
-Experience in fixing and designing audio rack, pedalboards, amps, and other musical electronic gear. Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.

About me: I played 5+ years professionally, Google YukonRyder and check out my music ( 2 CDs) Im dreaming of a 3 or 4 piece ensemble that can play acoustic originals, folkie old stuff, country, gospel, bluegrass like for mostly video and a few live gigs. Ilike to work with people who can sing, sing harmony, and play another instrument especially a lead like fiddle, flute, sax, clarinet but an acoustic bass or drummer with brushes is also cool.
