Our Genres: Rock, Funk, Jazz, Folk, Soul, Classical.
We play: Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals, Bass Guitar, Drums.
About us: We are looking for a lead vocalist to join our band, Open Road, to add to our existing scope for lead, backing and harmony vocals. It would also be useful if you play an instrument but not essential. We currently comprise 2 guitars, bass and drums / percussion and generally perform on a semi-acoustic basis, while using full electric guitars for certain songs.
Open Road is primarily focussed on entertaining people who, perhaps due to their circumstances, have limited opportunities to listen to live music. We therefore perform for charitable organisations, hospitals and care-homes etc. To meet the needs of our target audience we perform well known standards / songs from a wide range of genres, such as All I have to dream (Boudleaux Bryant - sung by Everly Bros), Wonderful World (Sam Cooke), Ventura Highway (America), We have all the time in the World (John Barry / Hal David - sung by Louis Armstrong), Daydream believer (Monkees), Dance the night away (Mavericks) and Mrs Robinson (Simon & Garfunkel) etc.
The four of us are all in our 60s and live between the areas of Colchester and Canvey Island. We have a great chemistry in the band and the friendly, ego-free environment adds to our enjoyment of playing and performing. We have recently performed our first post-lockdown gig and are working on maintaining momentum. Should the above appeal to you, please let me know.
