Drummer Wanted
CaryGrace
Somerset
Female
I play: Lead Vocals, Song Writer, Producer.
I'm looking for people who play: Drums.
About me: Seeking an experienced, versatile, dynamic, motivated, highly creative drummer for the new lineup of the Cary Grace Band. Must have the ability to play in a variety of styles (including rock, jazz, psychedelia and spacey music of all sorts), be a good listener, have facility with creating dynamic range and contrast in a performance, and enjoy improvising with other musicians. A strong grasp of playing in time signatures that aren’t 4:4 is a must for this project (certainly not all the time, but sometimes). I am seeking a person who employs a high level of musicality in their playing (and listening), a strong commitment to their instrument, and a deep love of music in general.
Bonus points for also being able to play percussion and/or things that are not a drum kit, but that isn’t a requirement.
This band will be playing original material, but extra bonus points if you are into any of the following: Rose Kemp, Gong, Can, Bowie, Neu!, Neil Young, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd (up to and including Wish You Were Here), Morphine, Brian Eno’s early solo albums, Joni Mitchell, Renaissance, Pentangle, Robert Wyatt, Amon Düül II, Nina Simone, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, Zorch, Hawkwind (early period with Lemmy), The Clientele, Portishead (the first album), the Doors, Espers, Sonic Youth, the Stones, Tangerine Dream, Faust, Pretty Things, Cold Sun, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Jefferson Airplane, all things that feed your head, and analogue electronic music that doesn’t suck.
Based in the Southwest (North Somerset and Wiltshire; currently rehearsing in Glastonbury), but location isn’t really that important within reason as long as it is possible to travel to (not very frequent) rehearsals and gigs.
