About me: DRUMMER (WHO CAN ALSO SING) LOOKING TO JOIN
CHRISTIAN METALCORE OR POP-PUNK BAND
I’d like to join or be part of forming a band with an evangelistic mission (more on that below). I'm not too particular on what genre it could be, though I'd prefer something under the punk and/or metal umbrellas. I'm into and have experience playing metalcore, post-hardcore, pop-punk, emo, etc. (You get the idea.)
My influences include:
• Metalcore: For Today, Phinehas, Fit For a King, Wolves at the Gate, (old) Underoath, Darkness Divided
• Pop-Punk/Emo/Post-Hardcore: Relient K, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Disciple, Write This Down, Yellowcard
• Some 70s-80s Pop/Rock: Bee Gees, The Archers, Sweet Comfort Band, Philip Bailey, David Meece
I was the drummer of a local Christian metalcore band a few years ago. Through that I gained experience writing drum parts, playing shows, and even recording in a studio. Since then I’ve continued to grow as a drummer, also gaining more skill at singing, home recording and mix engineering, playing some melodic instruments, instrument teching, and songwriting too. I continually desire to challenge myself and grow my abilities as a musician, which is what drew me to metalcore, but I also like playing stuff that isn’t as intense most of the time too. (Of course I’d still love to throw in some flare, which could make our music sound more interesting, but I want to put first serving the song and enhancing the conveyance of its feelings and message.)
I’ve also gained the ability to sing while drumming. I wouldn’t mind doing clean vocals or backup vocals for the band if that can be of service, but I’d be okay with just drumming too. My vocal range is baritone (a little lower than the typical male pop/rock singer), and I can also sing in falsetto in a Barry Gibb-like bright tone. I can also harmonize and enjoy doing it.
Regarding the “Christian” designation, I want to be part of a band that offers its audience something greater than just good music. I’d like a core mission to be sharing the gospel and what we’ve found in Christ, and for our lyrics and presence at concerts (on and off-stage) to reflect our values and mission. I really want to get out there and make myself available to help lead people toward belief in God and faith in Christ, and to do what I can to help guide newer or struggling believers on their walk and share what's available to them in Christ.
I'd also like to be part of a band that’s serious about getting to the point of making a living from this, though I understand if it takes time for things to take off. I’ve dreamed of doing this full-time since I was a teenager.
If you think I’d be a good fit for your band or would like to form one with me, please reach out!
