About me: I am primarily seeking paid gigs in the Austin, Texas area. I have been playing drums for over 40 years, own professional-level equipment, and arrive prepared so rehearsals can be kept focused and efficient. I have a good sense of humor, an open mind, and respect for everyone’s time.
I started out playing metal and hair metal, but receiving James Brown’s Star Time box set changed my musical direction. From there, I moved toward funk, blues, jazz, and world music. I have been described as a rock drummer with funk and jazz sensibilities. I am not a fan of modern country but I do seem to get the feels for any country music from pre 1980.
My preference is for paid work, although I would consider joining the right Austin hard-bop jazz group for little or no pay if it offered worthwhile playing experience and connections.
I will work on putting together a proper demo for now I am posting a recent performance at an open blue jam. I have older examples of me playing rock, reggae, blues & funk.
